Our 2019/20 programme of talks started again in September. All meetings are at Littlemore Community Centre, Giles Road, Littlemore, OX4 4NW. Talks start at 7.30 pm: tea, coffee and biscuits available from 7.00 pm. Come early to meet other society members and visitors. £3.00 entry for non-members.
On Wednesday 20th November we have our annual social evening at the Littlemore Community Centre. Come to meet our sociable group, enjoy our quiz on local trivia, pore over old maps and documents relating to Littlemore, while you enjoy refreshments.
On Saturday 4 January do join us for our New Year walk to blow away the cobwebs after the festive season. Meet at 10.0 am outside St Mary and St Nicholas Church, Littlemore, at the roundabout between Cowley and Sandford Roads. We will be led on a leisurely circular walk on pavements to see chapels, churches and sites of religious interest, and to hear about their history. We will finish at Littlemore Village Hall on Railway Lane, where light lunches and refreshments are available to purchase.
On Wednesday 15 January our programme of talks begins again at the Littlemore Community Centre. The evening will start with our Society AGM, and then move swiftly on to our first talk of the year. Dr Buffy McClelland will talk about “Farming: the rural history of Littlemore” from the 1600s to the present day.
